Lawn Care Program and Services
Basic Lawn Care Program
Our Organic Lawn Care Programs are customized to fit the needs of your lawn using a variety of the best organics. The very basic program includes 4 fertilization applications, based on the needs of homeowners and businesses in the Southeastern Michigan area:
March/April and October
Granular: a premium turf food containing a blend of natural ingredients: hummate, potassium sulfate, ammonium sulfate, soy meal, kelp extract, iron hematite, dextrose, and soil bacteria. Formulated for use as a turf supplement and soil conditioner to introduce critical growth-stimulating micro-organisms into the soil.
Mid May
Corn Gluten: Pre-emergent that naturally kills weeds as they sprout. Completely non-toxic, this nitrogen rich supplement makes Corn Gluten an ideal weed and feed for your lawn.
June and August
Compost Tea: Supplies the microbial and fungal populations to the root system that affect soil in relation to nutrition, development and health. The beneficial organisms, found in the tea, colonize the soil and trigger beneficial effects and enhance the nutritional function for grasses, which means greener, healthier, and lush organic lawns.
July
Predatory Nematodes: Used for soil insect control, these microscopic organisms rid your soil of harmful insects that effect the balance and appearance of your lawn.
Lawn Maintenance and Seasonal Services
Spring or Early Fall
Overseeding: An overseed is recommended yearly to crowd out weed growth and ensure a lush lawn. It is the greenest way to prevent weed growth season-to-season.
De-thatching: When the thatch layer of your lawn becomes too thick, it acts as a wall, preventing water, air, and fertilizer from reaching the roots. A thin layer is normal and beneficial by acting as a mulch, retaining moisture and helping to keep the soil temperature cool. It is recommended to dethatch the lawn prior to an overseed.
Soil Aeration: Recommended in April and October, aeration opens up the compact soil and improves permeability. It increases the activity of soil microorganisms that decompose thatch while increasing water, nutrient and oxygen movement into the soil. It improves rooting and enhances infiltration of rainfall and water. Also, it helps prevent fertilizer run-off from overly compacted areas.
Fall Clean-up: Includes leaf removal, hauling, winterizing of the beds and shrubs, and a variety of services that can be customized to fit your needs.
Spring Clean-up: Includes removal of leaves and debris, light pruning, removal of deadwood from shrubbery, removal of dead plant material, and hauling.
Tree and Shrub Feedings and Pruning: Fall is the best time to prune and feed your trees and shrubs. Some may require more attention than others. Our horticulturalist will prescribe a custom program for your trees and shrubs.
